  1. The Province of Segovia houses, among other famed monuments, one of the most well preserved Roman constructions, the Aqueduct.
This aqueduct dates from the First century AD, it provided water from Guadarrama mountains to the town, a total of eighteen kilometers of duct, 958 of which are built in arcade to save the uneven land.
The most spectacular section can be seen in Azoguejo's Square, where this Roman jewel is twenty-eight meters hight.
Nowadays, traffic is restricted in this area to avoid the imbalance of the structure.

  2. Nobody can deny the impact of the Roman imperium all over Europe. One of their most important monuments can be seen in the city of Segovia, in Spain: the aqueduct. This is a structure that was used to transport water from the mountains of Madrid. Watching this you can imagine how intelligent and useful were all the architecture of this imperium where everything was built to last and to fight againts the nature elements that dificulted their expansion.
Due to his location in the middle of the actual city, the construction has to be carefully preserved in order to avoid the influence of traffic and pollution.

  7. In the city of Segovia, the legacy of its history is standed for a lot of monuments such as the Cathedral or the Alcazar, but is the acueduct the one which had been made the unquestionable symbol of the city.
This unique structure is the greatest example of roman architecture in Spain. lt probably was built in the time of August for supply water to the city from Puerto de la Fuenfría. In this time, Segovia was a growing farming center.
Apart from its spectacular dimensions there is other fact that makes this building something special: all its heavy stone blocks are joined without using any kind of mortar or cement, is its own weight which maintain united the structure.

  11. In the Spanish town of Segovia we find one the most impressive Roman Aqueducts, which was part of a water supply system that brought water from the 18 km away river Río Frío to the Roman city. The Aqueduct was built approximately at the end of the first century by the Romans and is one of the masterpieces of Roman constructions we can find in the Iberian peninsula. It has two levels – rising up to 29m height - with a total of 166 arches built with 25.000 granite stones joined together without any additional supporting material to hold them in their places.
Today it is the symbol of the city, but not the only sight of interest in Segovia. The old city and its aqueduct were declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
